Oil leakage and its entry into the cylinders lead to engine oil starvation, increased friction between moving elements, which ultimately leads to an emergency engine shutdown and overhaul. The oil level must be regularly monitored in order to notice its increased consumption in time and find out the cause. If the engine starts to "eat" oil, this may also be indicated by a changed color and smell of exhaust gases. Such problems can be caused by the following reasons:
- Mechanical damage to elements such as valves, valve stem seals, piston rings.
- Violation of the tightness of the system. It is necessary to check the joints for signs of oil leakage.
- Use of low quality oil. This often leads to the formation of deposits on the oil scraper rings and contamination of the grooves on the pistons.
If you notice that the engine does not start well, runs unevenly or stalls during operation, one of the possible reasons for this may be in the fuel system:
- Breakdown of the fuel pump. If it is impossible to pump fuel at the desired speed, the engine will start poorly and stall.
- Clogged fuel filter. This element needs periodic replacement because it has a limited adsorption capacity.
- Faulty fuel injectors.
- Poor quality of fuel or its inconsistency with the season. This is especially true in winter: at low temperatures, paraffins in summer diesel fuel solidify and the engine does not start. But even in the summer, you can get on fake fuel with harmful impurities that interfere with the operation of the entire fuel system.
If this system does not work correctly, the engine does not produce rated power and runs unevenly. Among the frequent malfunctions of the gas distribution system are the following:
- Depreciation of individual elements of the system in connection with the development of engine hours. This can be a timing chain or belt, bearings, a camshaft pulley, springs and valve stems, etc.
